LYNX WEB INSPECTION

The versatility of the award winning ‘Lynx’ web inspection system coupled with superior picture quality based on flicker-free full-frame technology has made it the choice of printing companies worldwide.

Used as a quality control tool to observe the web when printing or cutting paper, film, foil, rubber and textiles, Lynx allows the printer to see and improve print quality at full press speed, providing a fast and efficient job turn-around and reduced overheads.

Offered in a variety of standard configurations including Operator Responsive, Part and Fully Motorised, further refinement can be added to satisfy customers’ specific requirements.

Technical Information

Standard featuresof the 'Lynx' web inspection system:

  • Camera Assembly
3 CCD Colour Camera. Manual, precision ground, 10:1 zoom lens to include close-up +5 achromatic dioptre attachment enabling viewing areas of: Maximum 110 x 95mm approx, Minimum 18 x 13mm.
  • Monitor
17” SVGA non-interlaced, flicker-free, high resolution monitor with 0.28 dot pitch and 72 Hz refresh rate at 800 x 600 pixels. Monitor is complete with swivel base.
  • Strobes
Dual strobe assemblies of our own advanced design provide illumination and reliability. The strobes are enclosed within the camera case which sits 5mm away from the web to eliminate the presence of ambient light.
  • System Control
An industrial P.C. of our own design provides a robust, efficient operating platform.
  • Operator Controls
Tectonic bespoke software has been designed to give the operator instant reflex action for fast correction of faults and therefore significant reduction in waste.
  • Memories
All ‘Lynx’ systems have, as standard, three memory storage boxes which are permanently displayed on the right hand side of the monitor. Camera / memory position indicators are provided at the top and right hand side of the monitor screen which indicate to the printer his positions on the web.
  • Split-Screen
Tectonic provide a “like-for-like” split-screen. This automatic function saves time because when splitscreen is selected, the chosen image is ‘saved’ on the left hand side and the computer finds and displays the exact replica of the stored image on the right hand side for quick and easy comparison.
  • Visual Retrieval System
The VRS allows the user to save a copy of the current print run. The image stored on floppy disk provides an accurate copy which may be retrieved at any time or loaded into any P.C. for analysis. The VRS provides the user with a useful, visual feedback for future runs.
  • Programmable Positioning
This allows the user to choose and store random positions on the web at different zoom ratios. When ‘run’ is pressed the system automatically displays each chosen position.
  • Operator Responsive:

    Suitability
This Lynx system is manually operated with the camera controls situated on the camera case. It is generally used on narrow web presses, however, it can be used in any application provided the operator can reach the camera case to control the functions on the key-pad.
  • Traverse
Manually operated with up to 500mm supplied as standard. However, any length of traverse can be supplied.

Optional extras:

  • 20” and 21” monitors.
  • Back-strobe.
  • U.V. Strobe.
  • An extra camera to observe print on the reverse of the web.

Part Motorised

  • Suitability
Offering a manually operated traverse and a camera controlled by a remote key-pad, this versatile system can be used in many applications. It is generally used by those wishing to situate the camera case inside the press where the case can be moved to a new position across the web by hand, with the camera functions (zoom, focus, iris, memory etc) being controlled using the key-pad situated near the monitor.
  • Traverse
Manually operated with up to 500mm supplied as standard. However, any length of traverse can be supplied.

Optional extras:

  • 20” and 21” monitors.
  • Back-strobe.
  • U.V. Strobe.
  • An extra camera to observe print on the reverse of the web.

Fully Motorised

  • Suitability
This version includes a motorised traverse as standard (any length can be provided) with the traverse and camera functions, etc., controlled by means of a remote key-pad. This is suitable for every requirement regardless of the web width and offers the benefits of programme positioning which allows the operator to choose and store random positions on the web at different zoom ratios. When ‘run’ is pressed, the system automatically displays each chosen position in sequence. Also included is a constant scan feature which, when selected, allows automatic scanning of the web based on a pre-programmed choice of viewing position.

Optional extras:

  • 20” and 21” monitors.
  • Motorised back-strobe.
  • Manually operated back-strobe.
  • U.V. Strobe.
  • Cold Seal and metallic strobes.
  • An extra camera to observe print on the reverse of the web.
  • Larger fields of view.

Optional extras extended:

  • Back-Strobe
Manually operated or motorised, the provision of a back-strobe means that the ‘front-to-back’ registration can be checked by the ‘see through’ effect created.
  • Multiple Monitors
Up to four monitors can be provided for installation on long presses.
  • Unwind Camera Unit
A black and white camera is available to monitor the progress of the unwind area.
  • Extended Field of View
All Lynx web inspection systems offer a viewing area of 110 x 95mm as standard. However, it is possible to offer our customers a selection of wider fields of view by providing alternative lens and dioptre configurations. All Lynx systems providing an extended field of view are designed and manufactured to customers’ exact requirements.
